The First Sunday of Advent

Come Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in Thee
Israel’s strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

Born Thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a King
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring
By Thine own eternal spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By Thine all sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne

Blessings to you on the first Sunday of Advent, the day we anticipate with hope the coming of Christ. As Christians, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, who would be the sacrifice for our sins, bringing us into sonship with God our Father. We also wait expectantly for the second coming of Christ, at which time Satan will be banished from the earth and we will be able to live in the fullness of Christ. Oh, for the day when we no longer are tempted by sin, but fully and completely free to live in Christ alone!

Come, thou long expected Jesus!
