Ten Things I Really, Really Like

I started to name this post “Ten Things I Can’t Live Without”. I don’t know, maybe it just sounded better. But then I decided that was probably a little dramatic. And in light of the events going on in Haiti and in other places around the world, even those in my own hometown who don’t have a warm place to stay tonight, I thought maybe I should tone it down a bit. Because, after all, I really CAN live without these things, but I do really, really enjoy them. So here you go…

  1. My cowboy boots. I read an interview with Bob Riley, governor of my fair state, and one who wears cowboy boots everyday. With his suits. He said that Luchesse cowboy boots were the most comfortable boots he has ever worn, and by golly he has worn a lot of cowboy boots. A new pair of Luchesse boots was out of my price range, so I bid on a pair on eBay. Lo and behold! I won them. Best money I have ever spent on a pair of shoes. They are extremely comfortable, and I wear them a lot. Like, probably more than I should.
  2. Maybelline Great Lash mascara. The kind in the green and pink tube. My personal color choice is “brownish black”. OK, so maybe their color names aren’t quite as exciting as a bottle of OPI nail polish, but it is by far the best mascara I have ever used. And the cheapest.
  3. Books. I bet you could have guessed that. But several books top the list. As you might remember, I have been working on Power of a Praying Wife and Power of a Praying Parent, both by Stormie Omartian, for the better part of a year now. As soon as I finish them, I start them again. I am on about ny fourth or fifth time reading them. I still haven’t soaked in all the knowledge she gives. But I’m better off than I was. And, of course, my Bible is tops on the list.
  4. My CDs by Selah, Travis Cottrell, and Keith and Kristyn Getty. I have very few CDs, and even fewer songs on my ipod, but I have most every song available from these worship singers. They speak truth straight from God’s word, and their praise is powerful. They lead me to the Throne on a regular basis.
  5. MoroccanOil hair moisturizer. This stuff has done wonders for my hair. I have a lot of very thick hair. Without some serious help, it gets out of control. Moroccan hair oil keeps it from looking too big and thick, and gives it enough body that I can usually make it presentable.
  6. Diet Mountain Dew. It’s my vice. I know I should not drink as much as I do, and yet…
  7. Gain laundry detergent. The fragrance is one of my favorite smells on this planet.
  8. Magazines. More specifically, home interiors magazines. I subscribe to four, and I LOVE pulling them out of my mailbox. Which reminds me, I have a new Southern Living waiting for me when I finish this post.
  9. Homeschooling my kiddos. It’s one of the best and hardest choices we have made, and continue to make. We have been blessed beyond measure, and at the same time, it has proven to be hard. Really hard. But I wouldn’t take anything for the time I have with my two best girls. We are woven together, they and I.
  10. A good porch swing. And I like to swing HIGH. I do my best thinking and praying in my porch swing.

What do you really, really like?
