Book #8 Onion John by Joseph Krumgold

Book #8 was,  I have to say, not a particular favorite of mine. Onion John by Joseph Krumgold is a Newberry book that I read aloud to BittyGirl. She was a pretty big fan. Me? Not so much. It’s the story of a young boy who befriends the town vagabond. In trying to do something nice for him – “improve him” by building him a new home – the townspeople run him off. He just is who he is, and their efforts to make him change, no matter how pure their motives, only serve to make him realize how different he is.  However, in the end, the relationship between the boy and his father is strengthened and made right.
