Our "Classroom"

** Since not much has changed in our schoolroom since last year, I am linking up to last year’s post. Hope you enjoy!

Not Back to School Blog Hop

Darcy over at Life with My 3 Boybarians is sponsoring a Not Back-to-School Blog Hop, and this week is School Room Week. Our school room is something I have spent a lot of time thinking about lately. I have pondered this subject in my mind, turning over new ideas, mentally trying new configurations. I have salivated over the coziness of Edie’s school room, and considered moving us to the downstairs den. But, alas, I can’t seem to convince myself that it would be a better set-up than what we used last year – the kitchen counter.

The kitchen is the heartbeat of our home. It’s where all the action takes place. It is our gathering place. Although I detest the faux wood laminate countertops (that’s another story) and hate looking at them all day, we have a big bar space that is perfect for homeschooling. And so we remain in the kitchen.

Since those folding chairs we use in the kitchen (I know! Classy, isn’t it?) don’t lend themselves to snuggling up to read, we move here…

Our science class might look like this…

This is what our fine arts classroom looks like…

Or maybe this…

Or possibly even this…

I guess you could say that when it comes to classrooms, our family tends to think outside the box. Or outside the classroom. Or maybe, just outside period…

  1. Nice pictures.
That's our schoolroom too. The kitchen counter, dining room, living room, and all the places we go. πŸ™‚ Love homeschooling!
    ~Blessings on your upcoming year.

  2. I love those pictures! We used to do school at the kitchen table before we moved to this new house. We now have a schoolroom to hold all our stuff, but we still school all over the house.

What I love about your post is how you really are outside alot. I wish we did more of that… maybe when the hot summer is over….
