Apple Nachos

Have a sweet tooth, but want to keep it semi-healthy? Apple Nachos just might hit the spot. It only takes a minute to whip up a plate. For starters, you’ll need a couple of crisp, colorful apples. You can use the same variety or mix it up. I like Granny Smiths, my daughter likes Fujis, and we all enjoy Honey Crisps, so we usually use some combination of those varieties. But if you prefer Red Delicious or Pink Ladies or Braeburn, use whatever flavor suits your fancy.

Wash and slice your apples, arranging them on a platter so that each slice will have plenty of topping on it.

Next you will want to use some type of syrup topping so that the crunchy toppings will stick to the apples. I start with chocolate syrup and warm peanut butter (melt pb in microwave for about 15 seconds so it will drizzle). You can also
use caramel syrup, hot fudge, or marshmallow cream. Choose as many as you like and drizzle them over the top of the apples.

Now comes the fun part: the toppings!! There are 1001 different toppings you can use to make Apples Nachos your own creation. I like to use chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped walnuts, but there are countless other choices:

  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Chopped Pecans
  • Crushed Butterfingers
  • Sea Salt
  • Granola
  • M&Ms
  • Roasted Peanuts
  • Reese’s Pieces
  • Crushed Pretzels
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Cashews
  • Candy Sprinkles
  • Toffee Chips
  • Coconut
  • Crushed Oreos
