The Birmingham Food Scene

Birmingham Food Scene

As a kid growing up in Birmingham in the 70s and 80s, the food scene looked vastly different than it does today. Sure, I remember eating at Red Lobster, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell a good bit, but the selection of fabulous local restaurants just wasn’t what it is now. In recent years, Birmingham has emerged on the food scene with nationally recognized chefs like Frank Stitt and Chris Hastings and has become a destination for foodies.

This summer I will have the pleasure of introducing you to some of the best local food that our fair city has to offer. No doubt, this will be one of my favorite series I’ve ever attempted. You all know how much I like to eat. I hope you’ll join me in enjoying the culinary delights that can be found in and around Birmingham. Tomorrow we will begin our journey with a local bakery making a name for itself around town. We might even have a giveaway that is sure to please the sweet tooth. Y’all come back.

  1. Yay! I love local food. All of it. Looking forward to reading your takes!

  2. You have to check out the Alabama Biscuit Company. It opens late Summer in Cahaba Heights. The photos are amazing….I have a hunch, the biscuits will be, too!
