Pickle Jar Pineapples

Did you know that if you cut the top off of a pineapple and put it in water, it will root? It’s true. My parents have a pineapple plant on their deck in Orange Beach, Alabama, and here is what is growing in a pickle jar in their kitchen…

How fun is that? Dad is going to plant it for me so I can take it home with me. I’m hoping it will grow in the full sun on my back deck.

    What a fantastic idea! Do you think it would survive indoors (next to the window)? I guess there’s nothing to lose since otherwise the top would just go in the garbage. I’ll have to try it next time we get a pineapple.

    I’ve wanted to try the pineapple plant thing – Unfortunately instead of a green thumb I have a thumb of Death! Good luck with your plant though. Btw – I love the look of your blog – Super Cute!
