Mother’s Day 2010

Okay, so I know I’m late to the party again. Most of you have moved on from Mother’s Day, but I haven’t reported yet because we are still celebrating the MommyGirl in this house. Wahoo!

The “real” mother’s Day last Sunday was just beautiful. It was a real treat that I got to spend it with my mom, and an even more special treat that SHE cooked lunch for ME. We had a delicious pot roast with vegetables, fresh steamed asparagus, and grape salad. And my sweet big girl made a chocolate chip cake for dessert ALL BY HERSELF. We had this lovely meal after church, and spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside with the girls. It was just my kind of day!

Saturday night my little ones and their Daddy were the cooks. (What is it about our family that we think FOOD is the only way to show somebody you love them?!? I guess they all know that food is my love language. Haha!) Jonathan had two chickens on the smoker most of the afternoon, homemade mashed potatoes, corn on the cob,  and green beans. And cheesecake for dessert. Because it’s my other love language. Food and cheesecake. Definitely the way to my heart.
I have been blessed with a terrific mother and I thank God for her faithfulness to Him! In the good times and even in the midst of some circumstances she would not have chosen, she has kept her focus on Him, and it has been a lesson to us all! Love you, Mom!

  1. Every time we come over to visit with TVD and Jennifer – we always go to the cheesecake factory for a cheesecake purchase! My favorite cheesecake – red velvet cheesecake. Those 6 layers are divine! And I'm with you on food and love. I love to cook!!! Glad y'all had a great Mother's Day!
