More From the Decorating Files

I love the look and feel of a farmhouse. As much as I love a contemporary look with its clean lines and muted palate, I think I am beginning to fall in love with the farmhouse look even better. I think it has something to do with the homeyness and comfort of it all. I could see myself curling up in a farmhouse with a good book, homeschooling my girls, making jam from strawberries we grow in the back yard, and eating fresh eggs from our chickens. Okay, I am totally kidding about raising chickens, but I do love the idea of cooking with farm-fresh ingredients. Honestly, I think I could have been a pioneer girl. Anybody have a covered wagon I can borrow? No?
The center of a farmhouse kitchen is a good farmhouse table. I love the pine wood and turned legs on this one. And pairing it with lanterns? Beautiful!
This table is a bit more formal, but equally as lovely. While I love the lighter finish of the table above, the darker wood juxtaposed with the white slip-covered chairs is gorgeous!
Bead board and minty sagey green paint and a professional grade gas stove and open shelving and more lanterns… sigh. Lovely!
If I had a farmhouse, this is where I would sit to read. Love the comfy sofas. Love the striped Roman shades. Love the rustic table and stools. Love the shabby chic turquoise side table. This photo came from www.remodelingguy.net. Love his blog!
This makes me want to run right out and buy black and white frames and hang 1000 black and white photos on my wall. This one is from www.remodelingguy.net. too.
This room from www.CoteDeTexas.blogspot.com inspires me. The white slipcover with the lanterns with the minty green graphic pattern on rattan chairs with the zebra rug over just carpet. Really, really pretty!
When I buy my farmhouse, these are the things I am going to put in it:

Have a happy day!
