A Painting Party for Eight Year Olds

Mary Anneliese turned eight years old last week. And since she’s my little Picasso, a painting party was the perfect idea for her birthday. We invited several of her friends to join us, and they all had a blast! I bought canvases on sale at Michael’s right after Christmas and stocked up on paint, brushes, and sponges. I gave each girl a canvas and showed them all how to draw the outline of a purse on it. Then they each painted their own canvas. It was so cute to see how their personalities really came out in the purse they painted. When the canvases were all dry, Jonathan’s sister painted a Bible verse on each one. “Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace.” 2 Timothy 2:22.

The girls also had a great time playing Twister, jumping on the trampoline, and eating birthday cake, which Mary Anneliese made and decorated herself. It was so cute! It was sprinkle cake with strawberry icing. In glitter gel she wrote, “Mary Anneliese Hill” on the cake.

It was a big, BIG time for the eight year olds! They were all a very sweet little bunch of kiddos!
