We found out yesterday that there is a new splash pad in Gardendale. We pondered whether it would be worth the 40 minute drive to Gardendale from our house. We had a free day today and decided to give it a shot. It was fabulous! SOOO worth the drive. We took a picnic and stayed about 3 hours. The girls went back and forth from the splash pad to the terrific playground. They have covered picnic pavilions WITH CEILING FANS! Can you believe that? Everything was clean and neat. They have a park attendant on duty who helped me carry my laundry basket to the car. I must have looked like I was struggling to carry it; it was stuffed full of beach towels, dry clothes, swim diapers, lunch, etc. It wasn’t very crowded, and there was tons of parking. They have a very nice restroom facility. The weather even cooperated! And did I mention that it is FREE? It was a great day, and now the girls are worn out!
If you want to visit it, head north on 65. Take the Fieldstown Rd exit and go left. It’s about 6-7 miles down on the right, behind the sports fields.
