Just for kicks, I thought you might like to see the most expensive house currently on the market in Birmingham. It’s a 15 bedroom/16 full and 6 half baths on the market for #13.9 million. It is located in the exclusive Shoal Creek subdivision. It is over 50,000 square feet of living space, including the main house, a guest/service home, a barn with living quarters, an outdoor horse riding ring, an indoor horse riding ring, a pool with 2 cabana homes, and quite a bit more. So, who wants to put in an offer and live in my town?

Thanks Ash, I did enjoy that. I particularly enjoyed the pheasants mounted above the stove hood. And also the idea of 6 half-baths. I’m probably not the person to ask about this, but how do you not, at some point, say, “Honey? Do we really need six half-baths? Don’t you feel we can get away with five?” Do we know who the owners are/were?
I love your comments, Ging! My research concludes that the home was originally built for an officer at HealthSouth. It was auctioned after the debacle there, and is now being sold again. Not sure who the current owners are.
By the way, Jonathan and I once saw this property from the back side and it is unreal. We thought we’d try to sweet talk the guard at the gated entrance into letting us in to do a drive-by. We pulled up and Jonathan asked, very self-assuredly I might add, and the guard said, “Sir, you DO know this is Shoal Creek, right?” Haha! I guess you can take the boy out of Mississippi, but you can’t take the Mississippi out of the boy!
