I’ve seen recipes for 7 Up sour cream biscuits all around the internet that looks really easy. Usually they are only three or four ingredients, and they all claim to be “the best biscuit you have ever eaten” or “just like my grandmama used to make.” All southern cooks need a good biscuit recipe, so I decided to give this one a try. I only had Sprite on hand – actually Sprite Zero – but it worked just fine. So here’s my take on it:
The only ingredients I used were Bisquick (2 cups), butter (2 tablespoons), sour cream (1/2 cup), and Sprite Zero (1/2 cup). The recipes I saw called for 7 Up, and I’m sure regular Sprite would work as well. The Sprite Zero was fine.
The first step is to put the Bisquick in a mixing bowl and cut in the sour cream. I used a pastry cutter, but you could probably just work it through with your hands.
You should be able to work it into a nice crumble.
Once you have the crumble going, add in the 7 Up/Sprite.
Continue working it into a dough with the pastry cutter. It should form a nice dough.
At this point, the recipes I referenced said to turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out. That’s a little too time-consuming for me, so I just rolled the dough in my hand in biscuit-sized pieces. This recipe is enough to make six biscuits.
Spray your pan with cooking spray and melt the butter in the bottom. (I stuck mine in the microwave for about 1 minute.)
Place all six biscuits in your buttered pan.
Bake on 450 degrees for 12-16 minutes, depending on how your oven cooks. I used a glass pan which cooks a little more slowly, so mine took about 16 minutes.
Ladies and gentlemen, I do believe I have found my new go-to biscuit recipe. These were absolutely delicious! The girls and I finished off the whole pan before lunchtime. I can see that they would be so yummy with different variations like garlic and cheese or bacon and cheese. Gonna get busy on those next!
I hope y’all enjoy 7 Up Sour Cream Biscuits as much as we did. Let me know if you’ve made them.
