Creole Seasoning

TitleI love to make my own seasoning blends. Homemade blends usually have so much more intensity to their flavor and taste more authentic than store-bought packaged mixes. Plus, no MSG or other chemicals. Just good flavor. Here’s what I use for creole seasoning, which I use in my red beans and rice, jambalaya, shrimp creole, and many other dishes:

2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons dried oregano leaves
2 tablespoons dried sweet basil
1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon white pepper
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon celery seed
5 tablespoons sweet paprika

Spices

You’ll notice there is no salt in this recipe (though I did show it in the picture). This is so that you can adjust salt in your cooking as you see fit. Some dishes require more salt than others. I use about 1 tablespoon of salt in mine.
